Try purchasing some fresh fruits…I know, it’s sort of tough when you’re in college, kids order pizza nearly EVERY night! You could also try eating oatmeal, in the morning, which is very healthy…And drink fruit juice that is rich in vitamin C…Stay away from the beer too! That’s hard to say when your in college, but alcohol will sabotage your dieting efforts. You need some vegetables. You might try picking up some fresh produce….those little baby carrots are good. Cut up some celery to munch on. Not too expensive plus has vitamins which you need. Sugar free jello is also easy to make, plus zero calories. You can throw in a can of water packed fruit to it, which will increase your nutritional score. You might also splurge every now and then on some sliced turkey.

I have been preparing my 18 yo son for his return to university in Sept when he is hoping to cook his own food and eat healthy. He put on a lot of weight last year with the meal plan. He has learnt quite a few dishes over the last one week :
    Tuna Salad http://www.recipezaar.com/116814
    Meatloaf http://www.recipezaar.com/54257
    Grilled chicken legs http://www.recipezaar.com/97340
Dhal (indian masoor dhal or lentils) really easy and healthy. The good thing about cooking lentils, is that you can store a lot of dried lentils – other ingredients for the dish are onion, garlic, ginger, green chilli, turmeric and water
I doubt you will cook dhal, but please do try the ones for which I have provided links. I guarantee you will love them

You need more protein than anything else to be healthy. Tuna costs a good bit of money, but is a great source of protein. Buy skinless chicken breasts when it’s on sale. Buy some skim milk, eggs are great protein too. Fruits and veggies are great too. Any will do to your taste and are all pretty inexpensive. Fat free cottage cheese is great mixed with fruit and tastes delicious. Fresh fish is so healthy and usually on sale so try that as well.

    bagged salad….
watch carrots, they are high in sugar….
I’d get a “George Foreman” type grill, and you could make Turkey burgers, around .99c a package……
some stores have them all ready in patties…
ground Sirloin….small package around $3.00, little to no fat, and you could get around 4 burgers from that size package.
    ……………
whatever you do, stay away from Ramen Noodles……Its not the noodles, its the Salt content!!!! Look at the package sometime and check out the Sodium!!!! Bad for losing weight……
