Should you avoid eating fattening foods in front of dieting co-workers?

Two of my co-workers have started dieting and we eat lunch together everyday. Should I not eat my choice of chicken fried steak in front of them? I don’t need to diet but don’t want to temp them into cheating on there diets but I feel like I shouldn’t have to suffer because they decided to do this. Chicken fried steak happens to be my favorite food in the entire world
I need advice please!

Their diet is their personal choice, same as your chicken fried steak is your personal choice. I would continue to eat what you want. you don’t have to suffer because someone else needs to lose a few pounds.
I think you should eat what you want. I have been in the same situation before and it does cause a little guilt, but they are the ones in control of them self and you are right, you should not suffer because you don’t want to tempt them. Maybe just try to be the last one to order lol
eat what you like. when i went low fat, i never asked anyone to alter their food for me and possible temptation. and i had no problem with it.
no, why should you?
You should be able to eat what you want
That’s absurd. How does YOUR food tempt them? Are they going to be eating YOUR lunch? No. Eat what you want. THEIR diet will succeed or fail based on THEIR will power. The rest of the world doens’t stop eating what we want just because they did.
I would not do that. Is the entire world going to change eating habits to accommodate your coworkers? Sooner not later your coworkers need to cope with the real world.
If you are not tempting them at lunch then someone else will at some other meal. Your coworkers need to learn to eat right in spite of what other people eat.
I’m going to go against the conventional wisdom here, and suggest that you should cut back on your consumption of visibly fattening foods. Chicken-fried steak is all very well, but I’m sure that the side dishes that accompany it, plus your beverage, add up to more than you really need at lunch time.
It would be considerate of you to order a smaller lunch. It doesn’t have to be rabbit food or something you hate, but surely there are other good foods available. Eating your big meal of the day at lunch time when your co-workers are trying to watch their weight is like saying, “Nyah, nyah, I don’t have to diet and you do!” Either be sympathetic to their efforts, or go eat your chicken-fried steak somewhere else, all by yourself.
I must agree with marys,mo. If you want to eat rich calorie laden food, you should eat on your own. People on diets do not need, or cannot handle temptation. It would be a show of respect and friendship towards your coworkers. They may insist it does not matter – but it does – This is not forever! Once their diet has been successful, they should have regained good eating habits, be less hungry at meal time and easily ignore the fattening foods that caused the problem to begin with.
I must say, that is very considerate of you. I don’t think you are under any obligation to do this, but its your choice. You can eat diet food if you don’t want to feel guilty but don’t go without the food your craving. you don’t want to start resenting them.
